Birthday Hello vs Tribute: edited montage or unwrapped gifts?
Tribute is a group video maker: friends record clips, the organizer edits them into one video with music and titles, or pays a concierge editor, and the result is a downloadable HD movie. Pricing starts at $35 for up to 30 minutes of footage and goes to $99 for the concierge service. Birthday Hello collects videos, photos and messages the same way, but presents them as separate gifts the birthday person unwraps, for $15 per event. Tribute suits long, polished montages for any occasion; Birthday Hello suits a birthday surprise with no editing.
Prices and features checked on each company's website on October 6, 2026.

When is Tribute the better choice?
- You want a long, polished montage with music and titles, edited by you or by their concierge team.
- The occasion is a wedding, retirement or memorial where one keepsake video is the point.
- Guests will send several long clips each: Tribute accepts files up to 4 GB and finals up to 4 hours.
- You want a physical video book, which they sell themselves.
When is Birthday Hello the better choice?
- You want a surprise: on Tribute, clips are visible to everyone with the link unless you turn Party Mode off.
- You do not want to edit or pay for editing: Birthday Hello needs none.
- Each guest’s photos and written message matter, not just their clip.
- You want one flat price: $15 instead of $35 to $149 depending on footage and service.
How much does one birthday cost with each?
With 25 guests recording about 45 seconds each you collect roughly 19 minutes, inside Tribute’s first DIY band: $35, plus your own editing time, or $99 for the concierge editor and $149 if you add the video book. Birthday Hello charges $15 for the same birthday and skips the editing entirely because every clip is delivered as its own gift. Tribute is the better buy when the finished video is the keepsake you want.
On Birthday Hello, an average of 20 people send a gift for each birthday. The price is the same whether 5 or 50 people join.
